What Are the Benefits of Brazilian Waxing?
If you’re looking to remove all the hair underneath your bikini bottom, there’s no better, faster, or easier solution than a Brazilian waxing. In fact, there are many great benefits to receiving one, including:
Skin health
First, you won’t have to worry about cutting your skin because there will be no razor. Second, waxing creates an even feel, so forget missing a patch of hair (this often happens when shaving). Third, waxing not only removes the hair but exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and creating a smoother touch.
Smoother skin
A Brazilian waxing eliminates the possibility of feeling tiny bumps that are often left behind by a razor. Waxing ensures the hair is removed from the root. This exfoliates the skin and leaves it feeling smooth and silky.
Longer-lasting results
Hair that is removed from the root takes longer to grow back. In the first three or four months of waxing, you can expect your hair to grow back after one or two weeks, but once you establish a regular waxing schedule, you’ll begin to notice the hair taking much longer to grow back, allowing you to enjoy a smoother look, longer.
Thinner and finer hair
Over time, the more waxes you have, the finer your hair will become. It also means your hair will become thinner. What does this mean? It means your hair will become less noticeable, and you’ll be able to go longer between appointments.
Minimal irritation
When you begin waxing, you’ll notice your skin is less irritated. Shaving can cause razor burn or bumps to appear, but with waxing, you’ll face less irritation and rashes.
Bikini Waxing vs. Other Waxing Techniques
When it comes to cleaning up the bikini line, there are many ways a person can go about it. Unfortunately, some approaches are not always safe or effective. Here is how bikini waxing compares to other traditional methods:
Bikini Waxing vs. Shaving
If you’re tired of tiny, red bumps appearing along your bikini line, or you’re embarrassed by the rash that is taking away from your new swimsuit, it’s time you opt for bikini waxing. Shaving irritates the skin and leaves most clients unhappy. Waxing offers a smoother, skin-friendly approach.
Bikini Waxing vs. Epilation
Epilation is a process that is similar to shaving. Performed by a machine, it removes the hair just below the surface, which means that hair will grow back much more quickly. Waxing removes hair from the root, providing longer-lasting results without the discomfort.
Bikini Waxing vs. Hair Removal Creams
Plenty of companies push out products that promise “a smoother feel,” but what they don’t tell you are the harsh chemicals used to achieve this kind of result. Waxing forgoes the chemicals, and instead, gives clients a more pleasant experience.
What Are the Different Types of Bikini & Brazilian Waxes?
If you’re confused by what it means to get a bikini waxing vs. a Brazilian waxing, it’s okay! We’re here to help explain what you’ll receive when you arrive for your appointment.
Bikini line
If you’re wearing a pair of panties, it is the area around your panty line. Not only will Lizeth wax the top, but she will also wax the sides. This will prevent any hairs from poking out and will “tidy up” this particular area.
Bikini full
More than just a tidying, a bikini full allows you to choose how you want your front to look. Whether you want a strip, triangle, square or nothing, Lizeth can remove as much or as little hair as you prefer.
Bikini Brazilian
Want to remove it all? Not a problem! This form of body waxing will ensure you are bare if you want to be! A bikini Brazilian includes waxing from the front, all the way up the back to your bottom. If you’d rather not be bare, you can opt for a small, neat triangle, strip, or square on the front.
How Painful is a Bikini Wax?
Everyone has a different pain tolerance, which means for one person, it can be an easy experience, but for another, it can be extremely painful. Each time you have a waxing, your pain tolerance will increase but only if you continually see us every 4 to 6 weeks and exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week. Rest assured, we will do everything we can to ensure you are comfortable during your visit.
How to Properly Prepare for a Bikini or Brazilian Wax?
It is understandable if you are a little nervous before your first waxing, but let us reassure you, there’s nothing to be worried about. There are a few things you can do to prepare, including:
- Calm yourself – While this may seem easier said than done, much of the pain you feel is due to the level of anxiety pulsing through you. Instead of clenching and fretting, look at your waxing as a pampering experience. If you are concerned about pain, we encourage you to take an Ibuprofen at least 30 minutes before your appointment.
- Let your hair grow – If at the first sign of stubble you are wanting to get your wax on, hold off. It’s necessary that your hair be at least 1/4” long. This will make it so the wax can grab hold of the hair and remove it.
- Take a shower or bath – Before your appointment, it is best if you shower or take a bath, as this will soften your hair and open your pores. Don’t exfoliate the day of your waxing!
The Waxing Process
At Epic Beauty Rx, Lizeth will be here to ensure you are comfortable and ready to enjoy your waxing experience.
Cleansing
Before a waxing, Lizeth will clean the area to ensure any substances that are on the skin (i.e. lotion, oil) are removed.
Protection
By applying a protective oil, we will ensure your skin is protected during the waxing process.
Waxing
Based on your skin type and sensitivity, Lizeth will select the right wax formulation for you. This ensures you have a successful treatment. Different types of wax can be used, ranging from hard to soft wax. Soft wax is typically used for larger surfaces (arms and legs), while harder wax is used on the bikini area and sensitive skin.
Rejuvenation
Once the waxing is complete, we will apply a special serum to prevent any breakouts or ingrown hairs from forming.
Aftercare
In order to keep your results long lasting, there are a few things you can do at home:
- Exfoliate the area 48-72 hours after your wax. You’ll do this 2-3 times a week.
- Don’t shave between waxes.
- Use the appropriate aftercare products Lizeth and her team recommend.
- Keep the area clean and moisturized.
- For 24 hours, don’t engage in physical activity that will cause you to sweat.
5 Possible Side Effects of Bikini Waxing and How to Treat Them
You can expect your bikini wax to be a success but don’t be surprised if certain side effects do occur. Here is how you can handle certain situations:
Redness after waxing
If you see red, you may feel frustrated, as you don’t want a spotlight on your bikini line. Rest assured, the redness will go away over time. Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, it can take minutes or a few days.
Ingrown hairs after waxing
To prevent ingrown hairs from forming, make sure to use the recommended product offered to you. Not only will it nourish your skin, but it will also reduce the likeliness for ingrown hairs and bumps.
Stubble after waxing
Let’s face it: no one like stubble, especially after a waxing. Should you notice it developing, make sure to moisturize your skin daily.
Bumps after waxing
Bumps are normal, especially if your skin has some irritation to the wax. Again, don’t worry. They will go away on their own within a few hours or days. Lizeth and her team can recommend certain products to calm and nourish your skin.
Itching after waxing
Newly waxed areas can sometimes be itchy. It is best if you keep yourself from scratching these areas, as it will irritate the skin. Aloe gel can help soothe the skin and reduce itchiness.
